What 3M Trizact is

3M™ Trizact™ is a line of high-performance abrasive products engineered using 3M’s microreplication technology — this means the abrasive is made of tiny, precisely shaped three-dimensional structures that wear to continually expose fresh, sharp cutting surfaces. Because of that, Trizact abrasives deliver very consistent cutting and refined finishes compared with conventional abrasives. 

They are commonly used in:

• Automotive paint finishing (wet sanding to refine scratches before polishing) 

• Metalworking and finishing (precision sanding on steel, aluminum, etc.) 

• Blade and tool finishing (consistent finish levels on belts) 

Grit & Finish

Trizact products often use grading (A-numbers), corresponding to very fine grit levels like 3000, etc. These are much finer than typical sandpaper and are excellent for finishing and preparing surfaces for polishing rather than heavy material removal. 

• ~3000 grit (P3000) – fine sanding to remove deeper sand scratches (e.g., 1500/2000) before polish. 

How They’re Used

• Wet sanding: Many Trizact discs/sheets are designed to be used damp with water to minimize loading and achieve a smooth finish. 

• Hook & Loop attachment: Some come as discs that attach to sanding pads via hook-and-loop for machine use. Belt versions: Cloth belt types for belt sanders/grinders are also available.
